The magnificence of Clearwell Castle, set within the beautiful Forest of Dean, is a perfect venue to have a string quartet play for your wedding ceremony. Most of our couples choose to have us set up in the ceremony room whilst their guests assemble in the entrance hall. With the doors blocked with screens, this means that most guests don't notice there's live music until the doors are opened ready for the ceremony, which makes a really big impact on them as they see the ceremony room for the first time. The room has a fantastic acoustic, and we often find that classical music sets the scene before a ceremony. The quartet will normally be set up at the back of the room (near the entrance doors) with a perfect sight-line to events at the back and the front of the room. From then on, the music choice is up to you - for a venue with a history of being used in the 70s by bands (Black Sabbath, Deep Purple, Led Zepplin and Queen have rehearsed, written and recorded music there!) we enjoy playing almost anything there.
For drinks receptions, there are a number of places we can play. In the winter, particularly at Christmas, guests tend to congregate near the open fire of the entrance hall. In the Autumn we often play in the piano room with our sound echoing around the building, whilst in Summer we are happy to play out on the terrace by the lawns.
